About

G’s Shepard Springs Café

Over a fourteen month period, G learned to speak English and although a bit uncomfortable about the delivery of her new second language, she gathered the courage to be interviewed and was offered a position to work as a barista for a start-up café/coffee shop located in the historic King-Lincoln and Bronzeville district, called Zanzibar (Now Lincoln Café).

At the same time, she also accepted an offer to work as a cashier for Boston Market in the affluent area of Bexley, Ohio. G was now working a combined fourteen-hour days, seven days a week. G became the face of the Lincoln Café and by demonstrating professionalism and a consistency in providing the best in customer service enabled her to develop a strong and loyal customer base and positive image for the cafe.

What an awesome addition to the community. G’s really lives up to their “more than a great coffee experience” name. This is a much needed addition to our community. I recommend getting an espresso drink. The espresso actually really surprised me during this “soft opening” period. They integrate G’s Mexican heritage with many of their offerings and the decor inside as well. All meals are served with fresh fruit and I thought that was a very nice touch. Everything on the menu is pretty customizable as well. I feel as though G goes above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your meal, and it truly feels like you’re at home. Hospitality is often hard to come by in the restaurant space these days. We lose so much of the family, homey feel in an attempt to go overboard with aesthetics and justify high prices. G’s does absolutely none of this. This place may truly become the cornerstone of a community in Shepard.

I’m so excited that this cafe opened so close to my house! We stopped in for breakfast today. Everything was delicious and fresh. We got croissant breakfast sandwiches, coffee, and tea. The atmosphere was great. I was so happy to talk with my neighbors. We will be back!

Need a Table On Coffee House

Still with a dream of starting her own business, she worked her way up from the bottom, eventually becoming the Manager of what became one of the most celebrated café/coffee shops in the urban community.

A testimony to G commitment to her profession as a restaurant manager, was when a day came without prior notice the only cook the café had, decided not to come into work and provided no certainty if he even planned to return. Therefore, leaving G with the dilemma of having to tell her loyal customers that she had grown to love, that she could not serve them the breakfast or lunch choices they had grown accustomed to enjoying along with their premium coffee. With (30) thirty minutes until opening and after a brief phone conversation sharing the circumstances with the owner, who advised her to explain the situation to their customers with the hope they would understand and allow him time to figure things out. After that conversation and with fifteen minutes left until opening the thought of losing customers, money and she having no culinary skills other than to cook huevos (eggs) and beans, G made a decision based purely on the exposure to having seen the cook prepare the foods served, thought, surely, if she can cook huevos (eggs) and beans, she can cook anything. At that moment, she made the decision to work both the front and the back of the house and it was on that day a cook was born. After that, the rest became history as her skills as a Specialty Chef grew not only in cooking traditional breakfast and lunch, but she also began to create different menu choices creating her own secret recipes by blending sauces and spices from her beloved country of Mexico. G’s years of dedication, hard work, and fierceness in her role as a responsible manager, significantly contributed to her having the strategic ability to help the owner of the Lincoln Cafe survive Covid-19 pandemic. She brings to G’s Shepard Springs Café lessons learned that have instilled an indelible desire in her to focus on delivering the Best in customers giving the More Than a Great Coffee Experience and with the expectation that all who are associated with the various G’s café brands she owns, must provide.

Staying true to her (3) three core principals of maintaining a clean and healthy environment, providing fresh and healthy food choices, and making certain that the best in customer service is provided to all who come to G’s Shepard Springs every day of the year. Since the start of the pandemic, over 110,000 restaurants have gone out of business nationwide. In Ohio alone, 90,000 eateries have closed since the start of the pandemic and over 4,000 have closed permanently, while others continue to struggle and are on the brink of closing according to the Ohio Restaurant Association. G believes, a major contributor to the strength of any city’s success is the amount and diversity of eateries, entertainment venues and hotels are paramount in the decisions made by national and
international event planners and if city is selected to host such events it add to the strengthening of that city’s economy. The newly renovated space of the first floor of a two-story building structure that was built in 1928 and will house G’s Shepard Springs Cafe, is only four minutes away from the John Glen Columbus International Airport and less than 5 minutes from downtown Columbus. The eatery, which was named after G and is located at 900 Sunbury Road – Columbus, Ohio. 43219 in the Shepard Neighborhood-Subdivision is bordered by Saint Mary’s of the Saint Mary’s of the Springs Subdivisions where the Ohio Dominican University and Dominican Sisters of Peace share the Universities Campus site. It is also bordered by the Brentnell and Eastgate neighborhood Subdivisions. G‘s years of experience brings a professional barrister that has earned her the reputation as one of the best in the business, complimented by her skills as a Specialty Chef and extraordinary leadership as a business owner and executive manager. Her creations and food menu choices are so tasty that many people have been known to
say, “If I don’t see G behind the counter or in the kitchen, I keep on going.” To compliment G’s Shepard Springs Café premium brewed coffee, expressos, cappuccinos, mochas which uses the highest quality of beans to create the café’s custom coffee blends that have its own distinctive
taste of along with various types of teas, it is complimented by the menu selection of healthy fresh food choices. G’s final touch in establishing G’s Shepard Springs Café to be a cut above the rest is in creating a cozy environment that provides comfort yet stimulating in an invigorating
atmosphere with interior spaces that presents a combination of elegance and comfort, supported by an eclectic collection of art images. Along, with providing different sitting experiences where all can enjoy a view of the fireplace in the café’s main dining area to provide all who visit the ultimate coffee shop experience.
